What is a State Assembly and what power does it have in the State/Federal Legislation?

I just saw an interview with LA Mayor, Former President of California's State Assembly, and he said he supported and proposed some Acts, some of State, I don't if also in National, Legislation.|||A state assembly or legislature is the legislative branch of the state government, and is where state laws originate.

Just like the President signs bills from Congress to make federal laws, a governor signs bills from the assembly or legislature to make a state law.|||Take a class in civics. Clearly you know nothing about how government works. It is pretty hard to offer a legitimate opinion on something you know nothing about.|||State government is incharge of voting on bills much like the united staes federal government but this only affects the state not the contry so its like federal on a smaller scale.
