What are examples of opposition party-controlled Congress rejecting legislation?

So for a Powers of the President essay I'm going to include a bit about powers of appointment and for balance, going to put in a bit of how the composition of congress (i.e. if Congress is controlled by the opposition party) can make it difficult for the president to pass legislation.

Is there any good, strong examples of times when this has happened? I'm looking for recent, up-to-date examples, so if there's ones for Obama or other recent presidents, that would be great, thanks. :)|||I can't give you a specific example because this isn't exactly my field. I do know that the Clinton administration was considered very weak due to a majority of republicans in congress. I would recommend you look at his precidency for good examples.

Obama's plan for a socialised health care came up against a lot opposition but that was before the congressional elections. He ended up with a watered down version so imagine if conress at the time was controlled by the opposition. It may also be worth looking at Hilary Clinton's failed attempt at a socialised health care system during her husband's precidency. The reason it failed was definitely due, in part, to a lack of support in congress.

A question you may want to ask yourself. Is this a positive or negative aspect the US political system. Is it more democratic? When it comes to foreign policy (where most congressmen are fairly ill informed) should congress be part of the decision process?

Sorry I can't offer much more insight.
